This morning started with me shooing the kids off to school, and then heading off to the gym. I am trying to get back into the habit. It makes such a difference when you leave for a while and then come back. I was so much stronger, faster and less tired when I was going 6 days a week. I find that after all of that time off I took I am right at the beginning again. Not as strong or fast and I get tired quicker on the treadmill or the bike. I need to get back into the classes. My favourites were the yoga class and the weight class. After the gym I went home so Grant and the kids (Catcher, Maiya and Tyson) and I could go out. We went to the antique store here since I've never been. There was a ton of cool stuff. I would LOVE to use some of it for props, but it was far too expensive to purchase as just a prop. Then we went to get Catcher's hair cut (as well as Grant's). I have always just shaved Catchers hair off myself, but we decided to let him grow some hair and so this was his first haircut done by a hairstylist. He was sooooo good. He was kind of freaked out by the idea yesterday, but today just climbed right up on the chair and let the lady snip away. We all went to McDonalds for lunch together (so much for the calories I lost at the gym, lol). Catcher also got to take his b-day money from his Grandparents to get something. He chose some a big bucket of lego and a "Cars" watering can (my kids are obsessed with watering cans).

Monday March 30, 2009

Today was a day off of school for the kids. It turned out being a little crazy with all of the kids home plus neighbourhood kids coming in and out of the house. Reminds me of summer (only it's still snowing, good grief!) I went out this morning to the gym. I am trying really hard to get back into it. I used to go 6 days a week, but then stopped and I am having a hard time getting back into it. I like to watch the tv's that they have there while I ride the bikes. I feel it keeps me going longer. Today I went around the time when all of the soap operas were on (can't stand them) and so I decided to bring a book with me. I brought this book I have just started reading by one of my favourite authors, Marcia Lynn McClure. She is an author of clean romances. I thoroughly enjoy reading her work. Always positive and a fun read. The types of romance that give you the fun butterflies and giddy feeling. Love them. My favourite book by her so far is "Visions of Ransom Lake". It was awesome. I have only just started this book, but my sister said it would probably rival it. Her website is www.distractionsinc.com. You will love the author as well. She is a fun and spunky person full of life.
Well, my computer got fixed, YAY!!! I was missing it a lot (as was Grant since I kept borrowing his). It was a nice warm day today, but I really wish the snow would just melt so I can enjoy spring. I am getting so impatient to go out and take photos again. I miss it!

Today started off with me looking out the window to discover a ridiculous amount of snow. Grant had worked a close shift the night before so I didn't want to wake him up. So off I went in Grants massive customs coat, a brown touque (which belongs to Tyson, but was stretchy enough to cover my wet hair from my shower, lol) and no make up. What a sight I was, haha!! I shoveled our driveway and the sidewalk so that we could get to church. It was quite the tiring day at church today. I am in the nursery and boy was it crazy today. I enjoy working with the little kids, but it can get very tiring. Today was one of those days where alot of the kids chose to have a meltdown at some point, lol. Needless to say, I was very much ready to go home by the end. At 5pm we had the DaSilva family over for dinner. They are such an awesome family. Their kids were so great and they were alot of fun to have over. Such genuinely nice people. (Katrina even made an awesome salad with strawberries in it that put me in a very summery mood, yum).

OOPS! I missed doing my blog yesterday. So much for everyday. I will keep trying though. This photo represents my day today. I am selling a couple of lenses. I have hardly used these lenses so how can I justify keeping them when I am wanting a new expensive lens that I feel I will use a lot. Will I ever be satisfied?haha! It seems the further I get into photography, the more my mind changes. I would have to say that the lens, though expensive is nowhere near as bad as the camera I nearly talked myself into getting. It was a nearly $4,000 camera and I was convincing myself that I needed it. Then I brought myself back to reality, and I think I will be satisfied with the new lens for awhile. Oh well, I can still drool over the $4,000 one can't I?! Today (as it seems were the last couple of days actually) was a blah day. Grey outside, having a power clean of the house with me and the kids, and basically slumming it. No makeup today, didn't do my hair and hung out in my pjs, haha! Yesterday Grant took Kaitlyn, McKenna, Damian and Natasha (Kaitlyn's friend from school) to the movies to go see "Monsters vs. Aliens". They had so much fun and came home laughing their heads off and telling me about their favourite parts (which happened to be the crude ones....surprise, surprise). Caleb and Meg came over for a bit after the movie to hang out. Oh, and spring is supposed to be coming....but I heard there will be quite a bit of snow heading our way tonight. I hope the weather is wrong.

Today will just be a quick entry. I am getting so much more eager for the warm weather to finally make it's way to Alberta. I am looking forward to all of the things that I get to do come spring and summer. Playing outside with the kids, swimming, bbq's, garage sales, photoshoots. I'm getting impatient. That's about the only thing I like about winter...it makes me appreciate spring, summer and fall so much more.

Tonight Damian and McKenna had gymnastics. It was their last class for the winter session. They both passed CanGym1 and got their badges. They will be starting CanGym2 next week. They are really enjoying it and having a lot of fun. This photo is of Damian on the rope. He nearly got to the high ceiling. There is no flash photography in the gym, so Grant did his best to capture the kids during their class.
The other photos are the kids with their badges. (gotta love Damian's face, lol)

Today was very much a "cleaning day". I've let the house fall apart for a little too long. We were running out of clothes. I had a ton of laundry to do, floors to scrub (especially near Tysons chair. He lets us know when he is done by throwing his food on the floor.) and I even cleaned everyones rooms. I know I should leave it to them, but this time I just didn't feel like nagging. I wanted it clean. It feels so much nicer when you are in a clean house. It's somehow brighter, and more relaxing. I also got a chance to file our taxes, which is a load off right there. I hate tax time to tell you the truth. Just a pain. Last night was a doozy with Maiya and her ear infection. Needless to say, not much sleep was going on. Surprisingly I am not tired today though. McKenna went to her activity days, they learned things about budgeting and fitness. She really liked the yoga and the games. Tonight Grant and I ate pizza together and watched James Bond:Quantum of Solace. It was fun. Not a huge James Bond fan, but I like the Daniel Craig Bond :)

Hahaha, so this blurry image of Catcher mopping in his undies sums up my day. Not too much excitement around here today. I have 3 children with minor colds at the moment. They have been handling it pretty well, I think :)
This morning I did a bunch of errands like dropping off my computer to be fixed, picking up some finds from the swap n' buy site (I got a bunch of Lincoln logs and a stroller. I love lincoln logs. The stroller was mainly for when we go to Calaway Park and summer walks because it has the shade cover basket underneath and is small) dropped off some tools at Jesse's house and got milk (ooh, the excitement is rising). I came home and pretty much spent the rest of the day cleaning, doing laundry, etc etc. Catcher and Maiya wanted to help me out by mopping up the floor. It's their favourite job, and they do a great job of it. A little piece of excitement to add to my day, I got a call from someone wanting to book a maternity shoot and a wedding shoot. How awesome! I am dying to get back into the photo season. They say it's supposed to snow 10 cm tomorrow, so if it does...it better be the last of it. I WANT SPRING!!!!

Monday March 23, 2009

Today was mainly spent at the salon for me. My sister in law Meg works at this gorgeous salon. The salon was closed today, so Meg and I pretty much had the salon to ourself (except for her manager and 2 construction workers adding a door). It was nice and relaxing. In the photo to the left I have Meg at her colour mixing station, me under the heaters waiting for my colour to set, and my brothers Daniel and Caleb who popped in for a quick visit near the end. It was a nice relaxing day with some good laughs and nice music. :)

Here is the final product of my hair colour and cut.

I got home just in time to see the kids coming home from school and seeing Grant off to work. Later in the evening Carrie invited our family to go play basketball with them at the church. It was fun. I have not played basketball in a long time (and it showed). Carrie, Rebecca and I played 21. I lost both times....and by a lot *cough cough*. I still love it anyways, basketball has always been my favourite sport even if I was never very good at it. The kids also enjoyed having free reign in the gym.

A picture of me, Carrie and Rebecca. haha, we're so silly!!

Sunday March 22, 2009

Today was one of those days....the ones where you regret staying up until 1:30am the night before, and then waking up and having to get yourself and 6 kids ready for church. I was so tired all day. Oh well, my fault. I'm getting a little too old for those 1:30am bedtimes, haha! Catcher gave his very first primary talk in church today. He spoke loud and clear and was so happy to be up there.

After church I tried to catch a quick 1/2 hour nap while my wonderful husband straightened up the house before our hometeachers got here. After their visit, Grant (once again, wonderful husband that he is) made dinner. We had Caleb and Meg over for dinner tonight. It was nice to see them and hang out. We haven't had them over in a while. They are so fun :)

Saturday March 21, 2009

This morning I got to wake up and go to a "Breakfast by Twilight" at Becky Jensen's house. How exciting is that?? It was sooo fun. I went over at about 9am. Everyone that came pitched in something towards the breakfast. It was a good spread. There were sausages, bacon, quiche, muffins, toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns, fruit and dip and juice. It was so yummy! Then we all watched Twilight together. Becky had gone in to Blockbuster at midnight on Friday to pick it up (Grant also did the same for me). She had the coolest basement to watch it in. I think there were 13 of us there or so. So fun!

Grant had taken all of the kids out while I was gone. He got Damian a haircut, and went to get Kaitlyn a new bike. She was so excited. Her bike kept wrecking last summer and so she never really had a bike to ride. She was happy. It was beautiful outside and the kids played out for most of the day. At dinnertime, the kids wanted to see Twilight, so we all watched it together until bedtime. I was surprised that the younger kids even cared to sit and watch it, but they did.

Friday March 20, 2009

This post will be a little short as my mind is already failing as to what happened on this day. My computer is on the fritz so I can't load pics from there to my internet. Not the way too start with the journal. Charity came over for a visit today with her kids. It was nice to visit for a bit. After Grant got home from work we all got ready to go to a Church activity. It was a Service Auction to raise funds for the youth. There was a silent auction as well as a live auction. In the silent auction Grant bid on this sock monkey which Tyson just loves. He hugged it the whole way home. Luckily enough, we bid on a complete PC cleanup and tune up in the Live Auction. Sounds boring, but I was soooo excited. I'm hoping this will solve the problem with my computer. The kids all got to do kids activities, and they actually stayed and played and didn't cry, yay!! I donated a photoshoot to be auctioned off. The Burt family won it, and I'm so glad. They are friends of ours and have cute little boys. They will be a pleasure to shoot :)

Here is a photo of Elle I took while Charity was visiting:

My First Posting!

I have decided to start a daily photo journal in hopes that it will keep me motivated in keeping a journal. I LOVE photos and hope that they will tell some stories as well without too many words. I just decided to post 2 shots that are recent, before officially starting the everyday blog. I wanted to post this photo of Maiya wearing a dress that I made for her. I traced around her body on some fabric I liked and just started sewing trying to achieve the results that I could see in my head. It is in no way perfect, but I am extremely proud of it, and I think she looks great in it. I believe I made this on March 13th. The second photo I have posted was taken on the 18th. I had to post it because that photo pretty much summed up my day that day. Neverending chasing after Tyson. He couldn't resist the urge to get into the very greasy cake icing and make sure that it was experienced fully by smearing it all over him (and with some sprinkles to boot). I look forward to hopefully writing in this blog everyday to keep as a journal. My hopes are in the end to print it off into a book form to keep as a journal for myself. Some days the posts may be shorter than others, but at least it's something :)
