Sept. ?(too lazy to check), 2010

Just a quick update since it's been so long. It has been insanely busy this fall, so I haven't had much time for extra's. Tyson and I have been enjoying our afternoons alone together.
As soon as I drop off Maiya and Carter at school, we play for a bit or do something together and then he usually goes to grab his blanket and lays down somewhere in the house and falls asleep. He doesn't like for me to put him down for a nap, but doesn't mind if he goes ahead and goes on his own. When he falls asleep, there is tons for me to catch up on. Lots of editing photoshoots, cleaning, organizing, preparing for dinner, catching up on laundry etc. Maiya us loving Kindergarten. She feels so independant.
All of the lessons and activities have started up with the fall. I finished my last guitar lesson (for now...my schedule is too crazy to be able to make it work). I will continue to practice what I learned though.
Kaitlyn takes Singing Lessons one night a week. McKenna takes Kickboxing and Muay Thai 2 nights a week and Damian takes Gymnastics again.

They all really enjoy what they are doing. Kaitlyn was really shy the first time she went to singing lessons, but her teacher is really good at making her laugh and feel comfortable. She has become more confident. McKenna is so driven, and absolutely loves her kickboxing class. She never gives up, she's very focused and is eager for each class to come. She is the only girl in the class. Damian is so happy to be back in gymnastics. He goes for 2 hours per lesson now. It is a great thing for him to do physically. He has become much more focused now that he is getting a little older. Damian also has cubs once a week, and the girls go to activity nights with the 8-11yr old girls every other week.
We've also been enjoying dinners and outings with friends. Date nights and hikes. Sleepovers and parties.
We had 2 birthdays in September. Damian turned 9 years old and Tyson turned 3. Damian had already had his party (going to Calaway Park) so we just had a birthday dinner together with a present and donuts (as he requested). For Tyson we had a family party (we do family parties until the kids are in school and then we do friend parties).
Kaitlyn joined Band this year in school and has decided to learn the trumpet.
Grant won us a 7 day vacation to Mexico from work, and we are so excited to go. I've been preparing for that lately. I am dreaming of sun, no cooking, no cleaning and no demanding kids (love them, but breaks are nice). It will be great to relax from crazy schedules. There have been lots of photoshoots going on these days as well, and lots of editing, ordering prints, ordering photobooks etc. I have mangaed to slip in a few personal projects along the way. I had painted the girls dresser purple about a year ago or so to match the room decor. I did not do it properly and so the paint chipped and peeled off over time and ended up looking pretty terrible. So I decided to try something different with it. I mod podged scrapbooking paper to the drawers and painted the dresser black. I am going with a black and pink colour scheme right now.
I also made matching photo frames to hang on their wall and got some fun bright pink comforters for their beds.
I have tons more to write about, but I think this will do. I am too tired, but I just wanted to make sure to write (type) some things down to remember. Time flies by so quickly. I tend to forget what happened just the other day, so this will REALLY be needed in my old age. I plan on printing my blogs in book form at some point in the future.

Schools Back!!

Already back to school time! I now have 5 out of 6 children in school. WOW! When did I get so old?! Here are a few pics I took of them ready to head out to school.
Kaitlyn - Grade 7
McKenna - Grade 5
Damian - Grade 3
Catcher - Grade 1

They all really enjoyed their first day back.

Today was Maiya's first "day" of kindergarten. It was only for an hour (staggered entry). She was so excited to go. She was also extremely happy that one of her best friends (Carter) was going to be in her class too. Carter just got back from vacation on Sunday night, and they have been going back and forth from his house to ours for the past 2 days. They can't wait until kindergarten actually starts because then Carter gets to officially come hang out at our house everyday (I will be watching him for the year). Here are Maiya and Carter just before we left.

Tyson went over to Alex's  house while I went to Maiya's school for the parent meeting, but not before a brother and sister "I'll miss you" pic.

Maiya all ready to go. I can't believe I only have one left at home.
This is in her class.

She was disappointed that it was so short, but loved being there! She also has another little boy from her Primary class in her class (Riley). They had half of the class there today, and half of the class will go tomorrow. Out of the, I think, 10 kids there...8 were boys and then there was Maiya and one other girl. Maybe the other half has mostly girls??
Kaitlyn had 2 very exciting things happen tonight. She got to pick up her instrument for band. She is going to be playing the trumpet. She also went to her first singing lesson tonight. She was so nervous to do this with a stranger, but he was great! Funny, and made her feel comfortable about being vocal. She is excited to go back next week!
