April 4, 2010

We started off spring break by taking the kids to the movies on Friday. Kaitlyn and McKenna had their friend ,Isabella, sleep over so we brought her too.  They had toonie matinees going on, so it only cost me $14. How awesome is that?! Grant was working, so I was a little nervous about bringing 7 kids to the theatre by myself. Especially Tyson, since he is only 2 and has never been to the theatre before. Josh and Alex also came with their kids, so it made me a lot less nervous. The kids did really well. They watched "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel". It turned out to be a nice family outing. I was pleased with their behaviour in the theatre. Friday night, Isabella slept over again. Grant and I went to our friends, The Adams', house for a "Rockband and Deep Fry Party". As an added twist we were all supposed to dress up in some 80's gear. It was such a blast. Grants costume was definitely the best and most flashy, haha! (I had my shutter set wrong for this shot, but thought the "ghosting effect" looked neat)

(ready to head out to the party)

For the Deep Fry part of the party, we were all supposed to bring something to deep fry like they do in the states. We brought chocolate bars to see how they would turn out. Others brought fruit, wagon wheels, zuchinni etc, haha! It didn't end up working, but we attempted it.
Here are some pics of us all:

Grant was supposed to come as KISS, but ended up just going for glam rocker. Tyler was supposed to be Guns n' Roses. Morgan was supposed to be the Police and Jason was Weird Al, hahaha!!!

I was supposed to be Madonna, but opted for just a generic rocker. Carrie was supposed to be Tiffany, Sue was supposed to be Cindi Lauper and Kelly was supposed to be Salt n Peppa'.
It was a TON of fun!
Saturday was soley devoted to a deep clean of the house clutter. We worked from 10 until 3pm cleaning up all of the clutter around the house (including closets etc) and YES, it took us THAT long!!!!
Afterwards the kids played in the neighbourhood with friends and relaxed with some videogames and books. At 6pm we headed over to the Gonzalez house. They invited our family over for dinner. They also invited the Sherlocks and the Campos Family. It was a full house with 17 kids and 8 adults. Carla made some yummy Empinadas...not sure if that's how you spell it or not.

This morning we woke up to Easter!!! The kids were very happy to receive their baskets of Easter treats. Tyson dug right into his enormous kinder egg. Oh, and Catcher lost his 2nd baby tooth this morning.

We watched conference at home on the computer. It was a wonderful session. I always walk away from conference with a fresh resolve to do better. I think the best part about it for me was that Kaitlyn was really interested. That was so good to see. The kids did really well for the most part about keeping quiet while we sat together on my bed to watch it.
Later we had a very untraditional Easter feast. We usually have a ham or turkey, but today we opted for a BBQ.

Happy Easter Everyone!
