8/30/10

August 30, 2010

It's been another busy week for the Sagers. Trying to make the most of our last bit of summer here before school begins.
Last Saturday Grants parents came over for a visit in the morning. The kids have really been enjoying having them around. In the afternoon, I headed out to Okotoks to do a birthday shoot. A woman hired me to be the photographer at her daughters 1st b-day party. She did a Fabulous job. There was so much detail that went into the party. I was really impressed. This is one of the pics I took at the party of the birthday girls outfit. I had lots of fun. I love that people let me into their special moments and trust me to capture them. Sunday we had Grants parents and the Sherlocks over for a final dinner before his parents had to leave. I took a picture of each child alone with Grandpa and Nanny. I somehow cannot find them, and am so sad about this. I am really hoping that they are just on a memory card that I haven't found yet, and that they weren't deleted :(
They left Monday early in the morning to head back to Ontario. I met with another bride later on in the day to book her wedding shoot (Yay!) and Kaitlyn and McKenna went over to Josh and Alex's house to babysit for them while they went on a date for Josh's b-day. Tuesday was our trip to the dentist for all of the kids except for Tyson (Alex offered to babysit him).  They all did extremely well though came out with a few cavities to fix. Afterwards McKenna had her friend Isabella over for a sleepover. Wednesday we celebrated Damians b-day early because he wanted to take his best friend (and cousin) Drayton to Calaway Park. This was a better time than during school.
Grant took him and Drayton. They played games there and won a few souveniers. Grant looked pretty ill coming home. Too many spinning rides. Presley came over to play with Maiya for the day. We had pizza for dinner and Damian chose birthday donuts to celebrate. We ended up keeping Isabella over for another night and Presley and Drayton also slept over. I went to guitar lessons and then headed over to my friend, Valene's house for a bit. Her and a few of the girls were making jalapeno jelly. I don't like hot stuff though, so I decided to just come and visit for a bit until Grant had to go off to the movies with his friends. They went to see "The Other Guys".  I made Valene's daughter Claire this art carrier. I had seen this cute wooden holder on the swap n' buy and thought it had potential to be a fun unique gift. It was fun to make. (This is a before and after collage) I added in some colouring books, crayons, a storybook and a sticker book.
Thursday morning we headed dow to Stirling. My niece Meaghan was having her baptism so we decided to stay for a few days to kick off the end of summer. The kids were so excited to be there. We ate lunch and then headed straight for the pool. They just love that outdoor pool, and so do I.
Maiya finally let Sarah convince her to go on the waterslide with her and before long, that is all that she wanted to do..
We came back home for dinner and the kids played for a bit, but then desperately wanted to go back to the pool. So we spent almost the entire afternoon and part of the evening swimming.
I think they were all pretty tired come bedtime. It was +35 that day, so the girls were going to be sleeping in the tent. It lasted for a little bit, and then it started to sprinkle rain, and I guess they didn't want to "rough it" anymore, haha!
Garth went out to a movie with a friend and Sarah and I just chatted and flicked channels.
Friday morning Sarah needed to finish up Meaghans baptism dress that she was sewing for her. After that was done, we all headed down to Cardston. We took the kids to the temple to walk around the temple grounds.
I stopped in the distribution centre while we were there and got Meaghan a scripture case for her baptism gift. After that we headed over to a place called "Wooly's Beach" to have a picnic and let the kids play. It was beautiful there.
We had our picnic on one side of the hill because the other side of the hill where the beach was, was so windy.
The other side of the hill was fairly windy, but the kids were way too excited about the beach to let that deter them.
This water was really cold, but most of them braved it. Kaitlyn and Zoe were the bravest (craziest) and got right in, head and all, first.
The wind made some great waves though, and the sand was that perfect soft sand.
We stayed there for a few hours.

Afterwards we headed over to the dam, and then went back to Stirling. As soon as we got back, guess what the kids wanted to do??....yep, swimming. We ate dinner first and then all of us headed over to the pool and stayed until bedtime.
Saturday morning we woke up and spent the morning getting ready for Meaghans baptism. After lunch we went into Lethbridge for her baptism.
I gave a talk on Baptism. Here is the dress that Sarah made for Meaghan.. she's so talented.

After Meaghans baptism we started our journey back home. We stopped at a McDonalds in Lethbridge to tide the kids over for the trip. We macde another stop in Granum for gas, and stopped by to see if my Grandma was home so we could say hi. She wasn't there, so the kids played at the park near her house for a little bit. We made another stop in South Calgary to pop in on my parents for a bit. Then it was home for us. Everyone unpacked, had a quick snack and went to bed. They were all happy to see Grant. Sunday we went to church and then had a newer family in the ward over for dinner. Before they arrived, we had a surprise guest. A gopher crashed the party, haha! He snuck in while our door was open to air out the house.
That brings me to today! I am heading out to the mall with Kaitlyn for a few last minute items before school. I also have a shoot scheduled for tonight, but the forecast is thunder showers, so we shall see!!
